Yeah, me too. Probably because every single one of my characters (in my mind) have a quirky, fun sense of humor and I *know* that shows in my answer to any questions regarding them!

I took it quite seriously, necros are really never considered as beautiful....thats the mesmer or deverish....not the cute little necro......ah well, never did well in popularity contests in my life, why should my characters?

It really saddens me that people are now showing that they really wanted to participate, and felt like they had to second guess their application now.

Our choices really could've been anyone, it was just a matter of finding a group that all of us were agreeable on. No one really bombed the application. And I can genuinely say, none of us are 100% happy with our choices so far. Deliberations got really long and nasty. Like I said, its a really excrutiating process...

It might be silly to others, but it really did get to us that we had to basically turn down sixty or so applicants, who probably are just as deserving as the twelve that will be chosen...and I just hope that nobody gets to upset over the issue, and will keep their interest in the thread, as well as try out for the second cycle if one comes (which i hope me and my guildies will be able to fund and do).

I dont think that mattered too much. You could be serious while being funny at the same time. If by quirky, you mean by creative and different, than I think thats what most of us tried to do. And by funny... a little humour always spices up a interview question >.<

Here were our entries for Tyria's Next Top Model Cycle 1:

Firstly, I want to say thanks to everyone who shared my interest in this, as well for putting yourselves in a very difficult position of being judged. I know it must not have been easy for you guys, but trust me, it was equally as hard for us...but we do commend everyone for being strong enough to be criticized.

Alright, all twelves letters have been sent, and eleven contestants have confirmed their position with me. If this person doesn't respond by December 4th, than that person will automatically forfeit their position and a back up will take their place.

With that said, people who did not make it as a finalist can get with me and ask for their evaluation scores.

I won't reveal the twelve until the last letter has been confirmed, or if a back up is necessary. Whatever the case, everything will remain under wraps until I officially make note of it myself.

Thanks everyone!

Aw, don't let it make you sad, LN! It's like anything else, people send it in then wonder "Was it good enough?" Like job interviews or other sorts of contests, and it's just human nature to mentally evaluate how they could have done it better. :: hugs :: So don't stress that!

I can see from the picture that you had a pretty impressive array of applicants, and I definately see how hard it would be to pick just 12 of them! I'd be all "But... but I like them all...!"

I'll definately be sticking around to watch, and I think a lot of other people will too!

Default ***Final Twelve Revealed and Their Evaluations*** (Long Post lol)

The Final Twelve has been confirmed and here they are...

Congratulations to our amazing twelve finalists (in no particular order)

Burnout Chic - Elementalist - Prophecies
Raselle Deathblade - Necromancer - Prophecies
Mortissia Faust - Ritualist - Factions
Naga Xaviera - Ranger - Prophecies
Catherine Divine - Monk - Prophecies
Xo Katina Xo - Mesmer - Prophecies
I Only Protect You - Monk - Prophecies
Malefic Mistress - Assassin - Factions
Perynne Walker - Ranger - Factions
Aure Fatali - Elementalist - Factions
Summer Newmentz - Ritualist - Factions
Jaden Stone - Assassin - Factions

Here is how they scored...

Burnout Chic

"On top of her special elementalist talents she is a very talented poser for great screen shots, she has models attitude (she kinda mean) and she can even act in horror movies (see the picture with the witch hat)"

Scores:

Judge 1: 8
Judge 2: 7
Judge 3: 7
Total: 22

Comments: What really set Burnout Chic aside from the rest was her creativity level. Clearly in her answer, she knows that she is very talented in posing for screenshots, and it really showed! She even amazed people in the thread when she posted her pictures, particularly the one with her in the knock down room. There was a level of originality and creativity that really stunned us, even with her second character entry, with her ranger holding the plate of food. She really showed to us that she could think outside the box and come up with some creative things. We hope to see this level of creativity translate in our competition, so best of luck to you!

Raselle Deathblade

"In the land of tyria? I cannot say that their is much that makes my character overly unique. However, what makes her unique to me, is that she is MY character, and no one elses. She excerts a deep personification of myself. She's laid back, and could care less about much that happens around her... Needless to say, she still decides to fight for a greater good, and eventually triumphs over all evil, regardless of how many defeats she suffers."

Scores:

Judge 1: 9
Judge 2: 6
Judge 3: 8
Total: 23

Comments: One thing to note is that Raselle was one of the previous entries when this contest first open but went on hiatus shortly afterward. She didn't have to submit a new entry, but she did! And both times, she impressed us with her answer! She shown initiative and recognizes what we are specifically asking for. No matter how unique you think your dye combination/armor combination/character look is...what really makes your character unique is that they are YOUR character and no one elses.

Mortissia Faust

"Being of oriental descent, Mortissia has had hard times dealing with discrimination in Elona and Tyria, especially because she is a ritualist (Ritz sux, lawl! as the masses say). Now with her new found passion in modeling, Mortissia believes if she can participate in TNTM, she will do her very best and try to use her publicity to promote anti-discrimination."

Scores:
Judge 1: 7
Judge 2: 4
Judge 3: 5
Total: 16

Comments: The one thing that really tugged at us was the fact that your character was memorable. You didn't score the best on your application, but you were so active in the thread, you asked us questions, you made comments, and you left a big impression on us! You also mentioned that you were a fan of the show America's Next Top Model, and your personality really let loose and you made yourself very likable and memorable, and that is just as important as doing a good job in pictures.

Naga Xaviera

"I know that there a certain character models that people use that are considered the most popular. Granted, you wind up running into a lot of characters that look exactly like you in the same armor, same hair color, etc. However I can truthfully say that I have yet to run into another avatar that looks like mine, and I must say, all other rangers are inferior by comparison. I also have a wide range of elite armors to select from if needed so I can provide some good quality screenshots with a more than adequate amount of variability and originality. Hope you like her!"

Scores:

Judge 1: 8
Judge 2: 4
Judge 3: 7
Total: 19

Comments: We were really impressed with your answer, it shows that you really thought it out. You made a lot of valid points in your answer that really toss some of the other applicant's answer out the window. What really drew us in that you said "I an provide some good quality screenshots with a more than adequate amount of variability and originality." Hopefully, you can live up to what you said.

Catherine Divine

"I make them unique =)"

Score:

Judge 1: 10
Judge 2: 9
Judge 3: 10
Total: 29

Comments: Less is more. You gave us the the simplest answer, and only one picture, but you blew away 90% of the competition. Your answer was perfection, your picture showed us a regal/refined monk character. You didn't spam us with a 30 page essay, you didn't add all this unnecessary fluff to your pictures...This was it and you got it. Also, I would like to say, you were the first person that we all agreed on, and obviously, your character was the easiest to cast. So congratulations!

Xo Katina Xo

"Katina is unique because unlike many other mesmers her face has little make up and is naturally pretty! She also has a big "wardrobe" and wears armor mixes that no one else has. I like having her set the trend for mesmer armor, which she does very well! I hope you can see this uniqueness as well ! =)"

Scores:

Judge 1: 7
Judge 2: 9
Judge 3: 5
Total: 21

Comments: We all really liked your picture with the reindeer horns. The classic chin to the shoulder is a popular covergirl pose that Tyra Banks (as seen above) supposedly "started" as mentioned on America's Next Top Model Cycle 4. Keenyah, my favorite that season, also had her covergirl shot done like that. We also liked some of your points in your response, about a natural look, and setting popular trends.

I Only Protect You

"I want to parcticipate because my monk is the monk that saved Tyria and Cantha from countless enemies, who has seen many great sights and dark caves, while still looking as hot as a top model."

Scores:

Judge 1: 9
Judge 2: 4
Judge 3: 6
Total: 19

Comments: There was a little level of biased here. A lot of opinions collided. There was a lot of argument over your character look, and your response to us. (that you were similar to Catherine's character, and that you didn't send in a new response like Raselle did from the previous group) Of course the point was raised that you were not required to send in a new response, and that similar look should not automatically disqualify you. Regardless, you managed to land a spot, so what you really need to do is prove to the judges that you deserve it.

Malefic Mistress

"Malefic is unique in that she isn't your typical beauty, She is beautiful in her own way. Malefic was born in Cantha, and unlike her sister characters who went to the Jade Sea to get there new armor, She went through the Echovald forest. She feels that you don't have to wear a skirt and tiny top to look absolutly gorgeous. She also proved the typical sterotype of assasins dying to easily by earning the Survivor title while on her journey."

Scores:

Judge 1: 7
Judge 2: 8
Judge 3: 7
Total: 22

Comments: We loved both of your answers for both of your submissions. The fact that you mentioned your hard work to get what you had really impressed us. We also want to commend you on getting the Survivor title for your assassin, we know it probably wasn't easy, so congratulations on that!

Perynne Walker

"Although Perynne is a hardened ranger and saviour of worlds, she still enjoys showing off now and then. None of that nervous simpering and giggling: she always sees things through that she has started (hopefully this time she'll be able to stick all the way to the end too ;P). Heroing tends to wear one out, and there isn't always much glory in it. Photoshoots, on the other hand.... a way to get recognized and have fun at the same time! Also, she'd like a chance to prove that skimpy ele costumes are not the only sexy things around."

Scores:

Judge 1: 8
Judge 2: 8
Judge 3: 6
Total: 22

Comments: We liked a lot of the points you brought up, we especially liked the comment about the elementalists!!! Every job does have their unique appeal, and we admire your goal to prove that "skimpy ele costumes" aren't the only things that are sexy in guild wars! lol

Aure Fatali

"Aure Fatali knows how to look good. She just breathes fashion with her undeniably awesome taste of style. Whether it's in Luxon party attire or Krytan casual wear or even the imperial elegance of Canthan 15k, she always turns heads with her exotic looks. She's more than just a pretty face and flashy clothes. She has devoted her life to protecting her home country of Cantha and just wants an opportuity to show people the beauty of the world without all the wars and bloodshed."

Scores:

Judge 1: 7
Judge 2: 5
Judge 3: 7
Total: 19

Comments: You had a different approach to the answer, and it was a good one! You surprised us with your appeal on styling and fashion. Our only concern was for your Mesmer character, you had such a horrible response. It was so discouraging after reading your excellent response for your elementalist, that your mesmer is made to be the next Paris Hilton. (Given the fact that Paris is a working model lol) Either way, your elementalist response earned you a spot for the competition!

Summer Newmentz

"Summer wishes to participate as a way to show that even if you are handicaped in any way you can still live like the best of them. She is blind from birth and hasnt very easy. Her brother (Ivan Newmentz) is all she has now, their parents were killed soon after coming to Cantha from Tyria"

Scores:

Judge 1: 6
Judge 2: 3
Judge 3: 8
Total: 17

Comments: Again, you were one of the previous entries that tried out earlier before the contest was put on hiatus. And you did take an interesting way of answering your question at the time, it shows that you do have some admiration for your characters and some level of involvment to have created a story for your character. You were one of the last to be casted, so really, you have to step it up and prove that you deserve your spot.

Jaden Stone

"I know many beautiful women try and fail, but I think I'm differnt. What make me so unique you may ask? well I've been waiting for a chance to prove myself my whole life. For as long as I can remember I have been Ridiculed for not conforming to todays feminine ways. Always told that I was to masculin and my hair was too short. Well, I may not Have long beautiful hair or wear and elegant dress, but I'm here to prove that Beauty is not always in conformity. "

Scores:

Judge 1: 8
Judge 2: 7
Judge 3: 6
Total: 21

Comments: You were one of our last minute entries, and honestly, when we were that last day, I think all of us (Judges) pretty much knew who we were going to fight for. We really didn't expect any spectacular last minute entries, but wow did you surprise us! In fact, I think they were two notable applicants that we were really impressed with, and after fighting it out, you came on top.

And with that, these are our twelve fabolous contestants that passed preliminary rounds! I hope that in seeing their evaluations that everyone can see why we chose the people we did. They all shown some special qualities that really made them stood out.

Thank you everyone who participated in the preliminary rounds! Congratulations too everyone who sent in their applications, it has been a very difficult process! Thank you all for your interest, and I hope to get more feedback and suggestions as this process moves along.

Congratulations to our final twelve and good luck cause the real journey begins here!!!

All the girls are gorgeous! Can we do a group shot before we all compete against one another >.<?? With the judges too!!!

guess the bun head is STILL popular even after 30 years ........knew my black necro with green hair didnt stand a chance (notice that all the 12 have normal hair colors??? and NO warriors , dervishes or paragons either.)
I am just noticing trends......

and didnt realize that we should have had photoshoped our entry to get picked either.........................................or posted tons of times ....my post count could use a few extra points if I knew that would have helped.

Ok, lets try to clear some stuff up.

I realize that some of the people who didn't make it, do have higher scores than some of the people who did, the reason for that could be anything. Like I said, we didn't just look at the application, there were various amounts of outside factors that could've effected the outcome. Plus, there's three judges with three different opinions. lol

Group Shots/Real Time Events. As much as I wanted to do this, everyone who is here isn't in the same time zone, and to find a time that everyone would be comfortable with is zero to none. I wanted to do group shots, and I had a partner photoshoot assignment planned, but I had to change those to fit the time zone constraints. So as this moment, there is none planned, but we'll have to see how it all turns out.

And no, there haven't been a Tyria's Next Top Male Model...but there might be one...eventually...?

Also, Photoshoot Assignment 01 will be handed out probably Monday-Wednesday. We're a week early, but some extra time to help you guys get your juices flowing could help...so expect that to be out soon.

Well, thats it for now. Again, if there's anything you need, get at me!

Thanks!

Congrats all around! The finalists all seem different from each other, representing a wide variety of looks and qualities based on the answers. All the ladies are very lovely and I'm looking forward to seeing how the assignments go!
